I was not sure what to expect when I bought the 30A OpenEVSE kit. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the enclosure and all the components. I enjoyed putting the unit together because during that process I learned how it works, and also learned about the J1772 specs. I love how the LCD changes colors depending on the EVSE operating states. Chris was very responsive to my assembly questions. The L1 factory EVSE from Ford took 6 hours to charge the battery on my Ford C-Max Energy. It now takes less than 2.5 hours to charge my car.

The build has been simplified down to the level of putting a computer together. Everything fits, each step is clear. I'm THRILLED with the charger.

Excellent kit! Everything went together very quickly and feels very solid. I have a Volt right now which only pulls 12A but I set up everything on a 50a circuit as who knows what I'll be driving in the future.

I consider myself and advanced DIY person, but anyone with screwdriver skills could handle putting this kit together. The online assembly instructions are detailed and step-by-step with pictures. It works well and costs less than less-capable commercial charging stations. Combined with the WiFi adapter you even get graphs of charging usage.
